Full Disclosure

Fundraising can be tricky and even sometimes controversial. We have really thought and prayed long and hard about how to finance this adoption. Once we get past these first couple of steps we can begin applying for adoption loans and grants. But there are payments to be made before we can start those applications. We are so very thankful for all of the donations we've received so far.

We want to be transparent in our fundraising efforts so that you all know that we are spending this money wisely and solely on adoption expenses. It is being set aside in a separate account from our own personal accounts - in a totally different bank. Our PayPal is linked to this special account.

Now that I've said all of this, those of you that know us may already know that we will be taking a trip to New York soon. In the interest of full disclosure* we want you all to know that we are actually sponsoring and chaperoning a (heavily discounted) school field trip that was planned and paid for before we even made the decision to adopt. None of the money raised in our puzzle piece fundraiser or otherwise will be used for our "vacation" (in quotes because in reality we'll be chaperoning a bunch of middle schoolers. lol).

One Week Until Home Study Visit

We are anxiously preparing our home for our new addition, and our social worker will visit us next Sunday. Thanks to our amazing friends and family, we reached our first fundraising goal last week which will pay for the home study fees. We are continuing our puzzle piece sponsorships and we're planning a yard sale for next month. The next goal is a bit bigger and will pay the adoption fee.

Puzzle Piece & Home Study Update

Our Puzzle Piece fundraiser if off to a great start! Thanks to our amazing family and friends we have raised over $500 in less than a week! We are so close to our first payment - which will cover the cost of our home study.

Many of you have asked about the home study. There's so much that goes into it, but basically we've been doing lots of paperwork and preparing our home for a new baby. We have a home visit scheduled with our social worker on 2/28. We have so much to do between now and then but we are so excited that things are moving along!

Early February Update - Home Study

We've been preparing for our home study for a couple of weeks now. Our social worker emailed to set a date for our first home visit / meeting for the end of this month. We are excited but extremely nervous because we still have so much to do - plus we're a little short of our first payment. Please pray for us to finish everything we need to get done prior to this visit and that we will be able to reach our financial goal.
